Here is an idea from a mother and her daughter who just posted on FaceBook:
Just got back from 5 days in Paris with my 23 year old daughter. We stayed in St. Germain at the Hotel de Buci which I HIGHLY recommend. This is our most favorite neighborhood and the hotel was right in the heart of it all. Right outside our hotel door were all the cute cafes and shops and was a short walk to the beautifull Luxembourg Gardens, the Louvre and the Latin Quarter. For any fellow EMILY IN PARIS fans, we easily found her apartment and Gabriel's restaurant in the Latin Quarter.
We did a full day bike tour of Versailes. It is a FULL DAY. 10:00-6:30PM. It was nice and an adventure but be warned you only get about one hour in the actual palace. Most of the day is spent riding bikes to the market to get picnic lunches and riding through the Versailles Park and seeing the Queen's Hamlet.
