We also visited the Vatican and saw the Sistine chapel and St. Peter’s Basilica.  93% of the population in Italy is Catholic.

The Rome Italy Temple, belonging to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, is a striking symbol of faith and devotion. Situated in the idyllic suburb of Rome, this sacred edifice is a testament to meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. The temple's design incorporates elements of Italian culture and history, reflecting both the LDS Church's commitment to its global membership and its respect for the local heritage. With its stunning spires and elegant interiors, the Rome Italy Temple stands as a place of worship, reflection, and unity for Latter-day Saints, serving as a tangible representation of their beliefs and a hub for religious gatherings.

On the other side of the spiritual spectrum, the Vatican City is a sovereign city-state enclaved within Rome. It serves as the spiritual and administrative center of the Roman Catholic Church and the official residence of the Pope. The Vatican is a treasure trove of art and history, with attractions like St. Peter's Basilica, a Renaissance masterpiece adorned with Michelangelo's famous Pietà sculpture, and the Sistine Chapel, renowned for its exquisite ceiling frescoes, including Michelangelo's iconic depiction of "The Creation of Adam." The Vatican Museums house an astonishing collection of art, manuscripts, and historical artifacts, making it a cultural destination of global significance. Day Nine - 3 Temple Trip - At Sea

We met from 10 to 12:30 and Diane taught about the history of Christianity.  Each person shared something unique about themselves and a bit of their story.  It was a restful day at sea.

Review:  We do not recommend any of the Costa Cruise Line vessels.  The announcments are all in Italian, the buffet lines are over crowded and mismanaged, and the staff caters to Europeans and not American.  This is a economy line owned by Carnival and cuts corners while charging for everything, even water.
